paragraph on how i motivated for saving water
Answers
Answer:
Water conservation is the practice of using water efficiently to reduce unnecessary water usage. According to Fresh Water Watch, water conservation is important because fresh clean water is a limited resource, as well as a costly one.
To convince people to reduce their energy consumption, two types of persuasive appeals often are used by environmental organizations: Monetary appeals (i.e., ‘conserving energy will save you money’) and environmental appeals (i.e., ‘conserving energy will protect the environment’). In this field study we aimed to compare the effects of monetary and environmental appeals on showering habits. During two weeks we measured showering behavior in one hundred households. As compared to monetary appeals, environmental appeals were more effective in decreasing participants’ shower frequency. Interestingly, the monetary appeal was judged as somewhat more motivating to save water than the environmental appeal. We discuss theoretical and practical implications of these findings.

How I motivated my friends to save water:
I have lots of friends, some are from my school and some are from the same locality where I live. Water scarcity is prevalent across the world due to pollution, increase in population and wastage. So, one day I decided to talk about water conservation to my friends. At first I was not sure where to start or how they would react. But after saying a few things about water shortage and the probable effects in the coming years, they became more attentive and curious. I told them that people take water resource for granted. They use it as if it cannot be exhausted. They all agreed that we must change our attitude towards water.
I explained to them that half of the world’s largest cities are facing water scarcity. Water scarcity is the shortage of freshwater to satisfy water demand. Population growth, industrialization, rapid urbanisation, rising needs of irrigation and increase in domestic water usage have accelerated the demand for water. Pollution of rivers and lakes will create extreme water scarcity in all major cities. Survival without water is impossible, so water conservation and the prevention of water wastage is vital for life on Earth.
After this I told my friends about water conservation. This means utilising water efficiently to reduce wastage. Now they have understood why saving water is vital for our present as well as for our future. The response from my friends was so encouraging. We all agreed to save water and reduce scarcity of water. We discussed about ways to save water. Our list of conserving water are:
- prevention of dripping of water from taps,
- quick repair of leakage from water pipes,
- turning off taps when not in use while brushing teeth,
- harvesting rain water by involving our parents,
- proper use of irrigation systems,
- not playing with water hose,
- not wasting water by taking long bath,
- reusing water after washing dishes, fruits and vegetables for watering garden plants and flowers,
- planting more trees so that rainwater will be retained as underground water.
71% of the surface of the Earth is water. Out of this only 3% is drinkable freshwater. The rest are saline ocean and sea water. We now have less than 3% potable water due to pollution. We must save this small percentage of freshwater.
Our group of friends dedicated to save water is growing in numbers. Our next big plan is to carry out cleanliness drive on lakes and rivers. We will spread the awareness on the danger of polluting water and the importance of saving water. This is a movement to save life by saving water. We are happy with our water conservation movement. This is better than fighting with your friends and neighbours for a small bucket of water which was predicted by environmentalists.
