Any kind of journey is pleasant to all. But a journey by boat is specially very pleasant and enjoyable to me. During the last summer vacation, I and some of my friends made a journey by boat from Deghirpar to Nikli. The purpose was to attend the marriage ceremony of my friend’s elder sister. We hired a fine boat. We started our journey from Deghirpar ghat at 9 a.m. There were two boatmen. The sky was clear. The river was calm. As the wind was favorable, the boatmen set sail. Soon the boat began to move fast. Slight weaves tossed the boat and the murmuring sound of the water charmed me much. We saw a large number of big and small boats plying up-and-down in the river. We saw some steamers and motor launches playing thought the river. Fishermen were catching fishes in the river. Boys and girls were swimming. Women were going home with jars filled water. There were green fields on both sides of the river. Cattle were grazing there. At last we reached Nikli ghat at 3 p.m. We got down from the boat and my friend received us cordially. I enjoyed the journey most. The memory of the journey will remain ever-fresh in my life.
