National emblem of India was from Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka. It includes four lions on the top which is standing back to back and it is mounted on an abacus. there's an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a lion which is separated by a circular wheel over a bell shaped lotus. The bull is situated on the right side of the wheel and the lion is situated on the left side of the wheel. Now, the lotus has been omitted. There's a word " Satyamev Jayate " which means " truth alone triumphs ". National Emblem actually represents the authority of the state. this emblem can be seen on coins, currency, documents organised by Government etc. We can see only three lions from any angle but there are four lions.

It was adopted on 26th January 1950.
