Indian army is land-based unit while Indian Air force deals in air protection and Indian Navy is naval unit.
Our Indian army is second largest in the world with 1.23 million personnel on active rolls and another 9.6 lakhs in reserves.
Indian army is mainly responsible to protect country against land based attacks.
It gives helping hand to agencies in dealing with terrorism, tackling emergency situations in country and rescuing people in natural calamities.

Indian National Army
Indian Armed Forces are responsible for ensuring the security of India and every part of it. The Supreme Command of the Indian Armed Forces is with the President of India. The defense of the nation rests with the Cabinet. It is discharged by the Ministry of Defense, which provides policy framework and information to the Armed Forces to discharge their responsibilities in the context of defense of the country.
The Assam Rifles, and Special Frontier Forces and various inter-service orders and institutions are supported by such strategic force command Andaman Nicobar Command and coordinated defense staff. The President of India is the supreme commander of the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Armed Forces are under the management of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Defense, Government of India. It is the third largest military force in the world, with a force of more than 1.4 million active personnel.
