I believe that everyone would spend quality time with their families. As a teenager all you want to do is go out on the weekends and will usually try to do anything, besides hang out with their parents; I know I did. I never really understood how spending quality time with my parents would better me, but it most certainly did. It was a rainy day and all of my friends wanted to just hang out and watch a movie, but I did not feel like going out with friends. So instead, I stayed home and watched a movie with my parents. During the middle of the movie and my dad looked at me and said “I am so happy you’re here with me.” Right then, I knew it meant so much to him. Then my dad became sick and I knew I would not have a lot of time to spend with him. So, instead of going out I would stay home every Saturday night to have some quality time. We always had so much fun! My mom would make brownies, cookies, pies and anything we had a taste for! My dad would pick out the movie set up the blankets and pillows and my older brother would even join once in a while! When I was eighteen years old, my father died of cancer. Even after my dad passed I still like to carry on this quality time with my mom and brother. My mom and I like to ride bikes and go out to lunch and we always have a great time. Spending quality time is not about what you or doing or even how you are doing it, it is about spending time together with those who are important to you. My parents and I have always had a fantastic relationship, and with all of the quality time we have spent together, it only made my family closer. I believe spending quality time will help people bond and can make people respect each other more. I know that many of my friends parents are divorced, broken up, or just not even speaking, but I feel that if their child asked if they could either go out to dinner or even do something as simple as watching a movie together, then they might one day see eye to eye and learn to get along. Everyone should make time to spend time with the ones they love. Having time is a privilege and should never be taken for granted. So spend your time wisely and cherish the quality moments in your life with family, and friends, because you never know when your time may run out.
