Padmavati or Padmini was the princess of Singhal dweep (now Sri-lanka) and was the daughter of king Gandharvasen.
Padmavati had a parrot (talking) Hiramal who used to talk to the her and someday by mistake the parrot reaches the King Ratan Sen and tells him about the exquisite beauty of the Princess Padmavati, listening to the parrot the king falls in love with Padmavati and decides to marry her. And the king reaches Singhal dweep with the proposal of marriage and gets married to Padmavati.
Padmavati was the 15th wife of King Ratan Sen, Nagmati being one of the wives of the king starts hating Padmavati due to her extreme beauty. So she decides to get rid of Padmavati with the help of Raghav (a black magician) and when this whole thing came in the knowledge of the king, he sends Raghav in exile. Getting angry by his exile from he state he decides to take revenge from the king and goes Delhi to meet Allahudin Khilji and tells him the tales of extreme beauty of Padmavati. Listening to Raghav Khilji decides to see Padmavati and leaves for Chittorgarh but Ratan Sen denies his wish to see the Queen but somehow agrees on seeing the reflection of the Queen through a set of mirrors placed at some angles. Seeing the Queen in the mirrors Khilji expresses his desire to marry Padmavati but Ratan Sen denied and got angry, Khilji then kidnaps Ratan Sen but somehow the Durbans of Ratan Sen GORA and BADAL frees him from Khilji. Khilji then attacked Chittorgarh in 1303 and invaded it. Listening to the loss of Ratan Sen in the War Padmavati with other women of the state attempts JAUHAR.
