The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with great enthusiasm and love by people in India and also in various other parts of the world on 12th January 2013. Many events were organized by Ramakrishna Mission organization and many others in honour of the man who enlightened millions of minds with his teachings and life. A film was also made on Vivekananda’s life as a tribute to his achievements and works. Many government organizations and youth groups celebrated this day.

Swami Vivekananda has imparted his knowledge to the world in many ways such as lectures, books, etc. He was fluent in English and Bengali and possessed exceptional oratory skills. He also had artistic skills and constantly indulged himself in writing poems and various songs. Vivekananda always gave lectures in a simple and lucid language. He believed that language should be used in such a way that the listeners can understand it with ease. Besides lectures and speeches, many of his works were published during his lifetime. This included publications on Vedanta Philosophy, Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga and more.
