The mass of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time but the partitioning of the water into the major reservoirs of ice, fresh water, saline water and atmospheric water is variable depending on a wide range of climatic variables. The water moves from one reservoir to another, such as from river to ocean, or from the ocean to the atmosphere, by the physical processes of evaporation,condensation, precipitation, infiltration, runoff, and subsurface flow. In doing so, the water goes through different phases: liquid, solid (ice), and gas (vapor)

When the water gets evapotated the water turns into water vapours and it becomes a cloud which is made of water vapor and when it is full of vapours it comes down as rain and the same cycle gets repeated.

Water is essential for life as we know it. It is present throughout the Solar System, and was part of the Earth from its formation. The source of the water was the same as the source of the Earth's rock : the cloud particles which condensed in the origin of the solar system.

1. The cycle starts when water on the surface of the Earth evaporates. Evaporation means the sun heats the water which turns into gas.
2. Then, water collects as water vapor in the sky. This makes clouds.
3. Next, the water in the clouds gets cold. This makes it become liquid again. This process is called condensation.
4. Then, the water falls from the sky as rain, snow, sleet or hail. This is called precipitation.
5. The water sinks into the surface and also collects into lakes, oceans, or aquifers. It evaporates again and continues the cycle.
