The plants and trees that grow on Earth are valuable to all life forms. The edible roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds are food for man as also for all herbivorous animals and birds. Trees are habitation to many wild creatures. Birds build their nests in trees. Reptiles and insects also live on trees. Forests are home to many large wild animals like the tiger, lion, rhinoceros and elephant etc.
Trees and forests also help in maintaining the hydrological cycle. They help in maintaining rainfall patterns and monsoon cycles. Trees are useful in making environment pollution free. Destroying forest cover causes an accumulation of greenhouse gases that causes a rise in the temperature of the atmosphere. This leads to the harmful effects of global warming and climate change.
