A family when lives together with all family members up to 2nd generation like grand parents, parents, uncle, aunts and their children is called a joint family. The importance of Joint family is understood by the Indians since time immemorial.

But while young people are going advanced with their lifestyles, they are shy away from living jointly with their parents and grandparents. These people are usually missed a lot of fun, caring, elder guidance from time to time which causes a lot of problems in the future like loneliness, frustrations, etc.

JOINT FAMILY SYSTEM -

A joint family comprises members of the family that are related to one another and share a common and ancestry, religion and property. all the working members of the family full together but they earned and hand them over to the head - who is usually the eldest.

The family head take care of the entire family. any member who brings in extra money has equal status. hence , die joint family put into practice the concept " to each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities ". the idea is socialistic in character.

the joint family is a feature of agricultural societies.
