Answer :
- If they were connected in series then we can't have seperate switches for seperate appliances. If we want to stop something we would have to stop everything and similarly if we wanted to on something we would have to turn on everything
- We know that when resistors (appliances) are connected in series the equivalent Resistance increase. This doesn't happen when they are connected in parallel.
- In a series connection the Voltage accross the circuit is not the same which is another problem.
- If any one appliance stops working due to some problem, then all other appliances won't work which is a major disadvantage.

- Instead of parallel connection used in domestic wiring series connection is being used.
- What will happen in the series connection?
As we know that, in common in the domestic wiring we use parallel connection. Usage of the Series connection in the domestic wiring may cause many disadvantages & problem regarding it.
It is as follows:
- In series connection the flow of voltage across them are not as same. While in the parallel connection the flow of voltage is as same & they share same live & neutral wires across them.
- There is individual problem to control them in the series connection as we are unable to have separate switches or fuses for each appliances. While, in the parallel connection we have individual switch & fuses to control them.
- In series connection it makes the devices independent as if one of the devices or appliances in it fail it will result in the stoppage to all the devices coming under that particular series. While, in parallel connection it makes the devices dependent as if one of the devices in the series fail it will does not lead to the stoppage of the other devices coming under that field & flow of voltage will be continued.
- Often times different home appliances are of different types & they consume different type of power which results in the voltage drop which will make devices impossible to work in the series connection. While, in the parallel connection though the different appliances consume different type of power which results in voltage drop it makes them dependent to work in possible way.
