As it is a concave mirror,

converging point is the focus

focal length is 12 cm

object distance =36cm

as per sign convention rule,

f=-12cm

u=-36cm

we know that

1/f=1/v+1/u

-1/12=1/v-1/36

1/v=1/36-1/12

1/v=(1-3)/36

1/v=-1/13

v=-13cm

so the image will be formed 13 cm away from the mirror
