First, the speaker describe the sunshine though the fountain “Into the sunshine,
Full of the light, Leaping and flashing “ and he describes the moment of water fall “Full of a nature nothing changed every moment, ever the same”. Finely, the speaker describes his emotions when he sees the fountain “Let my heart be Fresh, changeful, constant, Upward, like thee!”.
The theme “The fountain”:
James Russell Rowell in the poem describe the fountain, and what makes the water fall? how does it look like ?
The style and tone “The fountain”:
In this poem, the theme of the poem is nature, and this poem is full of imagination we see it when he described the fountain.

The Fountain
by James Russell Lowell
Into the sunshine,
full of light,
Leaping and flashing
from morn till night!
Into the moonlight,
whiter than snow,
Waving so flower-like
when the winds blow.
Into the starlight,
rushing in spray,
Happy at midnight,
happy by day!
Ever in motion,
blithesome and cheery,
Still climbing heavenwards,
never aweary.
Glad of all weathers,
still seeming best,
Upward or downward
motion thy rest;
Ceaseless aspiring,
ceaseless content,
Darkness or sunshine
thy element;
Full of a nature
nothing can tame,
Changed every moment,
ever the same:
Glorious fountain!
let my heart be
Fresh, changeful, constant,
upward, like thee!
