Plymouth plantation is a heart touching narrative of how the pilgrims suffered many difficulties in order to complete their pilgrimage and reach God.  The very first sentence intends to give a message to the future generations that they should not forget the pain suffered by pilgrims in the past.  He starts the narrative by telling them that he is recording this journey so that it serves as a guiding light for pilgrims for the next hundreds of years.
