They don't kill the host plant because the food prepared by the host is needed to the parasitic plants as they can't prepare their own food. example:- Cuscuta , Dodder , etc.........

Though parasitic plants feed on the host they are not violent killers because the soil they grow in is not very rich so they derive their nutrition from insects to supplement the food prepared by photosynthesis
