In many areas it was used to check whether it is a boy or girl.And if it is a girl child then it was killed directly after birth or before birth. It was a illegal method. So it is banned in India

Yes, this is banned in india because using this method people got know about the sex of their child. If the child is girl then they abolish the child and as a result in Indian girl's boy's ratio is decreasing very rapidly. To maintain the ratio government banned this technology in India and make strict rules against it.
