Hydrochloric acid plays an important rolein food digestion. The acid is made byparietal cells in the stomach lining and does its job in the stomach cavity, or lumen. The parietal cells also secrete intrinsic factor, which is necessary in order for vitamin B12 to be absorbed in the small intestine....
