Question:

Parikshit makes a cuboid of plasticine of side 5 cm, 2 cm, 5 cm. How many such cuboids will he need to form a cube?

Solution:

Given

Parikshit makes a cuboid of plasticine of sides 5 cm, 2 cm, 5 cm.

To find,

L.C.M of the sides of cuboids to get the side of cube.

Then,

L.C.Mof 5, 2, 5 = 10.

Therefore,

Each side of the cube will be 10 cm.

  • Now, the volume of the cuboid is = (5x2x5) cubic cm = 50 cubic cm. and,
  • The volume of the new cube is = (10x10x10) cubic cm = 1000 cubic cm.

He need (1000/50) cuboids, i.e., 20 cuboids.
