Difference between Atoms and Molecules.

An Atom is the smallest particle of an element. Which take part in a chemical reaction but may or may not exist independently in free states in nature.

Composition Of Atom:-

An Atom is made up of three fundamentals particles :-

1) Proton:- It is a positeively charged particle lies inside the nucleus of an atom.

$charge = 1.67 \times {10}^{ - 19}c$

2) Electron:- It is a negatively charged particles revolving around the nucleus of an atom.

$charge = - 1.67 \times {10}^{ - 19} c$

3) Neutron :- A neutral particles having no charge on it. Lies inside the nucleus of an atom.

Both Protons and neutrons are collectively called nucleons.

Molecule is a discrete unit made when two or more atoms join together in a fixed ratio by mass.

Difference between Atom and molecule:-

1) It is the smallest unit of an elements.

Molecules is the smallest unit of compounds.

2) Atom may or may not exist independently in nature.

Molecules exist independently in nature.

3) An atom has mass called atomic mass.

Molecules mass is called molecular mass.

4) An atom may or may not stable .

But molecules are stable.

5) Two or more atoms combine together to form different molecules or componds having different chemicals and physical properties.

Note :- Here (Parmanu) is Atom and (Anu) is molecule in hindi.
