Questions
(a) How is the winter rainfall of the northwest part of India different
winter rainfall of the southeast part of India ?
Answer
Winter rainfall in the northwestern part of India is caused due to western disturbances. It is good for wheat crop in Punjab and Haryana.
In southeast India, the winter rainfall occurs due to the retreating monsoon i.e. the Northeast monsoons. While moving over the Bay of Bengal, the winds carry moisture and give rainfall in the coastal regions of southeast India.
Questions

Answer
kerala
The onset of monsoon refers to the period between early to mid june during which the first batch of the monsoon wind arrive on the western coast of the indian peninsula.
Kerela is the first state to experience the onset of indian monsoon.
Questions
How does the “Mango shower" influence the state of Karnataka
Answer
India is a land of diverse range of climatic condition ranging from tropical in south, temperate and alpine in the Himalayan region, whereas some part of north-western India remains dry (Thar Desert) and some parts like Sunderban Delta, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat are characterised by mangrove vegetation. Hence, it very difficult to generalised the India’s diverse geographic level, and its wide range of weather. Let’s find out, how pre-monsoon blessed the India's markets and Farmers.
Give reasons
i--Kanyakumari experiences equable climate because of the following reasons:
Kanyakumari is located at the tip of the Indian sub-continent.
Kanyakumari will experience Maritime climate and also falls under the equatorial climate zone. Three different water bodies merge at this place making it more equable.
ii--Central Maharashtra gets less rainfall than the coastal area of Maharashtra due to the leeward region/rain shadow region of western ghats. No rainfall due to the descending air in central Maharashtra.
iii--Jaipur has a higher annual range of temperature than Mumbai due to arid/ dry conditions of Jaipur. Mumbai incurs maritime climate (sea coast helps in moderating the climate).
Answer d
Summer Monsoon:
- Summer monsoon winds blow from June to September.
- The direction of these winds is from South-West.
- They blow from sea to land and are moisture-laden winds.
- South-West winds bring heavy rainfall. This is a high temperature and high humidity season. The pressure is low on the land area and high over surrounding water bodies.
- During these months there is rainfall in the whole subcontinent.
Retreating Monsoon:
- These winds blow during October and November.
- The direction of these winds is from North East.
- These winds blow from land to sea.
- The temperature changes and the humidity remains high but rainfall decreases. It is a transition from rainy season to the cold dry winter season.
- The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu receive maximum rainfall from these retreating winds.
