When Swati takes food for 22 days, she has to pay ₹ 4250 as hostel charges, whereas Mansi takes food for 28 days, pays ₹ 5150 as hostel charges. Find the fixed charges and the cost of food per day.​

let the fixed charges be x rupees

and subsequent charges be y rupees

Eq.1-

x+22y =4250

Eq.2-

x+28y =5150

From eq. 1

x = 4250-22y

BY SUBSTITUTION METHOD

4250-22y+28y=5150

6y=900

y= 900/6

y=150

Now

x = 4250-22y

x= 4250-3300

x = 950

So,

Fixed charges = 950 rs

Cost of food per day = 150 rs
