Normally plants require fertilization to produce fruit but in some cases, fruits can be produced without fertilization occurred. These fruits are called parthenocarpic fruits and the process is called parthenocarpy.

Parthenocarpic fruits are seedless fruits and they are commercially more important than the fruits with seeds. They are easy to produce because they do not wait for the male plant, to undergo fertilization which increase its production rate.
