Parthenogenis is a process where the embryo develops without fertilization ! It is also referred to as semisexual reproduction and comes under the asexual reproduction ( as no fertilization occurs between the male or female gamete . It is semi sexual because as per the sexual reproduction it has two gametes but according to the asexual reproduction it doesn't occur natrually by fertilization (i.e no fertilization takes places between the two gametes to form the zygote ) .
Hormones like gibberelin ,auxins ,cytokinins can stimulate a plant or a ( callus) to form parthenocarpic fruits .
Examples - Banana is the best example of parthenocarpic fruit which originates without fertilization.
Advantages of parthenocarps :-
They can provide us with seedless fruits of desired types .
Conclusion: - parthenocarpic fruits are called semisexual because they don't satisfy the criterias of both sexual and asexual reproduction . They exhibit a typical form of reproduction in which embryo is formed without fertilization .
