Given :

The acceleration of particle A = 5m/s²

The acceleration of particle B = 5√2m/s²

To Find :

The relative acceleration of particle A w.r.t B

Solution :

  • Let us consider east as  +ve X-direction and north as +ve Y-direction
  • Acceleration of particle A = 5i
  • Acceleration of particle B = 5√2 (i+j /√2) = 5i + 5j
  • Relative acceleration = Acceleration of particle A - Acceleration of particle B

                     = 5j - (5i + 5j)

                     = -5i

The relative acceleration of particle is 5m/s² towards east
