★Now distance covered

= ⅓(t)V1 + ⅔(t)V2

= ⅓(t)( V1 + 2 V2)

Now as we know,

Average speed = Total distance ÷ Time

Therefore,

= ⅓(t)(V1 + 2V2)/t

= (V1 + 2V2)/3
