x=-t^2+4t+4

to find the maxima we have to differentiate the equation

dx/dt=0

-2t+4=0

t=2 sec

therefore at t=2 sec the particles has max value of position

Therefore its position is

x=-(2)^2+4*2+4

=8 m

Hope this helps
