Parts of Concave mirror:

(i) Center of Curvature:

•The point in the centre of the sphere to which a spherical mirror i.e convex or concave mirror is a part.

•It is denoted by the alphabet C

(ii) Pole of the mirror:

•The point where the principal axis pierces (make way into) the mirror is called the pole of the mirror.

•It is also the midpoint of the spherical mirror or we can say it divides the mirror into two equal parts.

•It is denoted by the alphabet P

(iii) Principal Axis:

• Principal axis is the straight line that joins the pole of the mirror to its center of curvature.

(iv) Radius of Curvature:

•The distance from the Pole to the center of curvature is known as the radius of curvature.

(v) Focus of the mirror:

•The light rays parallel to the principal axis of a concave mirror converge at a specific point on its principal axis after reflecting from the mirror. This point is known as the principal focus or the focus of the concave mirror.

•It is a midpoint between centre of curvature (C) and Pole (P)

•It is denoted by the alphabet F.

(vi) Focal length:

•It is is half of the radius of curvature.

•It is denoted by the alphabet f.
