The photosynthesis occurs due to the presence of chlorophyll (green pigment). And this green pigment is usually seen in leaves of the plant. The photosynthesis only occurs where this green pigment is present and without it photosynthesis can't. Some plants also have green stems and branches. So, we can say that photosynthesis occurs in leaves and sometimes in green stems or branches.
