In a democratic political system political parties contest against each other to acquire the power. But the party system followed by any democracy can not be chosen as it evolves according to the society and its needs. As seen in the case of India which started with one major party in the early years of independence but in the present there are multiple parties even at the centre. India is a country with lot of diversity because of which every region has its own region centric needs and requirements. In initial year it was thought that a single central party like Congress will be able to handle the issues of the nation, but as the nation developed it was realised that regional aspirations were not meet and this gave rise to many regional party and a multi party system in India. This multi party political system was not envisaged by the constitution makers rather it evolved out of the necessity of the time. So it is rightly said that one country can not chose a party system rather it keeps on evolving with time and requirement of the citizen of the nation.

Party system is not something, any country can choose because it evolves social, regional and religious divisions.

Apart from that, a country can establish a party system that is structured by its special circumstances, and party system is not ideal for all countries because they cannot manage all situations with a particular agenda established by the major parties.
