Passage 2
0
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were brothers. They lived in Germany in the
eighteenth century. They were both well-educated and interestedzin many fields.
Their passion however was folklore. Fronáſ childhood they would listen to stories
that had been passed down from generation to generation. These were stories
that had never been written down or published in any way.
Both the brothers decided to preserve their heritage by writing down these
stories. They aimed at being as accurate as possible. They worked very hard and
would listen to stories from different parts of Germany and indeed even Europe.
The stories were not originally meant only for children, but once their books
were published, children from all over the world loved reading them and till
today are considered as children's favourites.
