Passage - 25 The Dead Sea is actually a huge lake or inland sea in the Jordan Valley. It is extreme salty-many times as salty as the other oceans in the world. Nothing can survive in this lak except for some tiny micro-organisms. No plants or animals can grow in it or exist in it. That why it has been given the name "Dead Sea" The Dead Sea measures 79 km in length and is up to 16 km wide at its widest point fed by the waters of the Jordan river, and other streams, but there is no outflow. This means th the water that flows into this lake does not flow out but only evaporates, making it salty interesting fact is that because of its high density, it is impossible to sink in it. One can sa swim in the Dead Sea without any fear of drowning in it! 1.
