status of women in India has been subjected to many changes over the span of recorded history of India.their position in society dedicated early in ancient period,specially in Indo Aryan speaking regions.practice such as female foeticide,dowry,child marriage and widow remarriage which was launched by the practice by Raja Ram Mohan Roy.and widows remarriage Act was passed by the Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar in 1856.he also open very schools for girls of lower castes.
