ANSWER :

Gastrointestinal tract

EXPLANATION :

Food is cut and crushed by our teeth in the mouth and mixed with saliva to make it wet and slippery.Saliva is secreted by three pairs of salivary glands. Two pairs are located at the side of the jaw and below the tongue. One pair is located in the palate. Saliva mainly contains an enzyme amylase which helps in breakdown of complex carbohydrates to simple ones. This process of breaking down of complex into simple substances with the help of enzymes and absorbed into the body is called digestion.
