Mongooses are small mammals found in southern Europe Asia and Africa. There are many
kinds of mongooses. They have a long face and body,short legs and little round ears. They live
in burrows that they dig in the ground. Most mongooses stand on their hind legs to keep a close
watch on their surroundings to spot danger. They stay in large packs of twenty to fifty. They can
be heard chattering to each other for most of the day. They work together in a group to keep
enemies like snake away. They do not stay in a place for more than a week. They are well
known for their fights with deadly snakes
They eat insects, beetles, worms,snails, lizards snakes and frogs. The Indian mongoose can be
easily be trained and is often kept as a pet.
