In the story "The Address", the author Marga Minco visits the house of Mrs Dorling in Holland.  She wants to claim hers and her mother's belongings from her childhood, that were left with Mrs Dorling.

Her mother was dead.  She wanted to take back the costly articles in memory of her childhood and her mother.  But she saw the way the articles were  maintained or kept.  They were used in a badly used and kept carelessly.

She thought again that her mother is any way dead.  Why remember her past and her mother again and again and feel bad about it.   The experience during the war in 1940s in Holland were not good.   It is best to live in the present and make use of it.   So she decided to leave the articles there itself with Mrs Dorling.  She did not want to fight with Mrs Dorling.  She just wanted to only retain good memories and continue her present life.
