oxidation number of H= +1

oxidation number of O= -2

let oxidation number of sulphur = x

So,

2+2x-14=0

Method 2: by structure

Oxygen is highly electronegative than sulphur So each oxygen will get -1 charge on breaking of 1 bond and thus sulphur will get +1 charge .There are total 6 bonds formed between oxygen and So each sulphur will get +6 charge.
