Patna gets higher rainfall than Varanasi why

Due to progressive decrease in humidity of the monsoon winds, the amount of rainfall decreases from east to west in northern india. patna lies in the east of banaras. hence the former receives more rain than the latter.

Patna receives rainfall from both Arabian and bay of Bengal branch of South West monsoon winds whereas Varanasi receives rainfall from Arabian branch of South west monsoon winds
