This song appeals to us to remember the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who laid their lives protecting India, our motherland during Chinese invasion in 1962.
When the Himalaya was wounded with the invasion of the Chinese soldiers, our soldiers fought till their last breath fighting with their meagre weapons. The peaks were covered with their bodies. They played Holi with their blood when we were celebrating Diwali at our homes; they were standing as wall between enemy bullets and their countrymen. They were martyred protecting us; we must remember their sacrifices.
Some of the soldiers were Sikhs; some were Jatts; and some were Marathas; some were Gurkhas; and some were Madrasis; all of them laid their lives for their motherland, India. Their blood that fell on the peaks of Himalayas while protecting from the Chinese aggressors, that blood was Indian; we must remember their sacrifices.
Fighting the enemy they were badly wounded; their bodies were drenched in their own blood; still each wounded soldier killed ten enemy soldiers. When injured they could fight no longer, they said, ‘Stay happy country men; as we begin our Godward journey.’
Those soldiers were fanatically patriotic and sacrificed everything for the country. We must never ever forget them. Jai Hind
