Sum of two Daughter's age = a

Paul's age = a²

After 4years

daughter's age = a + 8

Paul's age = a² + 4

a² + 4  - 2a - 8 = 26

a² - a - 30 = 0

a² - 6a + 5a - 30 = 0

a(a-6) + 5(a-6)

(a +5) (a-6)

a = -5, 6

Age can't be -ve.

So daughters age = 6

Father's age = 36                          (a² = 6²)
