Half filled d5 stability for Cr and full filled orbital stability for Cu. It because the energy of 3d and 4s is almost same and this movement of electrons from s to d orbital makes them Transition metals. If a electron can shift to 3d it will make the 3d sub-shell stable with half filled configuration.
