• We are able to find acceptance, friendship and share our experiences.

• They influence us because when we choose to do something we wouldn't otherwise do just for their acceptance. Teenage behaviour is especially shaped by wanting to feel that they belong to a particular group of friends.  

• Peer pressure can also compel us to do things that are unhealthy for us. e.g Drinking and Smoking.

• They also give us opportunity to expand our thought process, discuss our feelings and experiment with social roles.
