Tamil Nadu is one of India's states, that lies to the Southernmost corner of the country. Tamil Nadu is famous for its Dravidian style Hindu temples and rice production. It is among the most rice producing areas in India.

(i)Demands of the Tamilian Farmers: The farmers of this region have been protesting for the drought relief and farm loan waiver in front of the federal government.

As Tamil Nadu is a rice producing are, it requires a lot of water; however it is suffering from drought. They demand a drought relief of 40,000 crore INR.

They also demand that the loans provided to farmers for production must be waived off.

They say that they require a Cauvery Management Board to deal with this crisis.

(ii) Suggestion by Supervisory Committee: Under the Cauvery Management Board, water access was set for Tamil Nadu for set period of time. The Supervisory Committee suggested the people to save water in case of lack of water. They suggested to use water scarcely in order to fulfill needs of all sectors.
