pen is mightier than the sword'- the poem stands true in this context. It represents how time take its toll on the monuments erected by the great leaders in their urge to be remembered by posterity and decives them . Moreover what one /poet has written its his verses still lives and lives longer than these swords or the ornate statues.

In the 55th sonnet of Shakespeare, he says that the memories of his youth friend will remain forever because it has been captured in his poem by his pen. “Pen is mightier than sword” is very true because all the gilded monuments built by the princes, rulers and riches will be destroyed in some way or the other but the poem will withstand all the ravages of time. Shakespeare says that, even if it is the “Sword of Mars” it cannot destroy his memory because his poetry is immortal.
