pendulum clock generally go fast in winter and slow in summer. why?​

In winter, due to contraction, the effective length of the pendulum gets shortened, and so the time period is decreased and the pendulum completes more oscillations in a given time i.e. the clock goes fast.

In summer the length of the pendulum of a clock is increased due to expansion. This causes an increase in the duration of one oscillation of the pendulum thereby making the clock lose time.We know that time period of pendulum clock is directly proportional to square root of length of pendulum . During summer , the length of pendulum increases with rise in temperature . So time period increases and clock runs slow and in winter ,length of pendulum decreases so time period decreases and clock runs fast
