Because water and oil do not mix

Explanation:

The oil would sink to the bottom, leaving the clean, unadulterated water at the top

Answer:

People do not use water to adulterate oil, while water is commonly used to adulterate milk due to the following reason:

Water is frequently used to adulterate milk. the primary reason behind this is that water and milk mix to form an inseparable homogeneous mixture. hence, it is difficult to tell that the milk has been tampered with.

Oil and water, on the other hand, are immiscible. Hydrogen bonds hold water molecules together. (Ice has more hydrogen bonds than liquid water.)

Oils and fats lack any polar components, so to dissolve in water, they would need to disrupt some of the hydrogen bonds in the water. The oil is compelled to remain apart from the water because water will not do this and owing to the difference in density, the oil will float on top of the water.
