It was the period of hyperinflation in the year 1923, when people had to carry money in carts to buy a loaf of bread.

During that period, people were paid for hourly shifts. The winters of 1923 proved to be the worst winters in the history of Germany.

Later on in the year when Gustav Stressemann became the chancellor of Germany he immediately ordered the passive workers to go back to their works and start working again in order to restore the loss which had occurred to the German Government and German people.

The mark of the country was replaced with Rentenmarkwhich was backed with American Gold.

Over the next five years the economy of the country got back its strength.
