People living ia a certain mountain village chopped down a lot of trees to obtain more land for growing crops .In the following years,a lot of landslides occured in that region . What could have been the reason?

the reason is that the roots of the tree hold the land firmly and the land is held tight but on chopping they lose their grip which therefore causes landslides and even mostly soil erosion..
