AS THE EVER RISING POPULATION, THE POLLUTION LEVEL IS ALSO GETTING DAY BY DAY ON HIGHER LEVEL. WE ARE CLEARING FOREST LAND FOR BUILDING HOUSES, FACTORIES, SHOPS, OFFICES ETC. THUS FURTHER REDUCING THE OXYGEN LEVEL AND INCREASING THE CARBON DIOXIDE LEVEL BY SEVERAL METHODS LIKE INCREASED TRAFFIC, FACTORIES POLLUTION THROUGH CHIMNEYS, ETC WHICH IN TURN CREATING GLOBAL WARMING. DUE TO THIS OUR FRESH AIR IS UNDERGOING LOT OF PRESSURE FROM THE ATMOSPHERE AND THUS ALL WE GET IS POLLUTED AIR.

Air quality

Explanation:

  • The quality of air is deteriorating with time and there are many reasons behind it:
  • Industrialization and Urbanization are two important factors which results in destroying various natural resources
  • The gaseous air pollutants of primary concern in urban settings include sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide; these are emitted directly into the air from fossil fuels such as fuel oil, gasoline, and natural gas that are burned in power plants, automobiles, and other combustion sources
  • Ozone which is a key component of smog is also a gaseous pollutant; it forms in the atmosphere via complex chemical reactions occurring between nitrogen dioxide and various volatile organic compounds
  • Airborne suspensions of extremely small solid or liquid particles called particulates which include soot, dust, smokes, fumes, mist especially those less than 10 micrometers in size are significant air pollutants because of their very harmful effects on human health
  • They are emitted by various industrial processes, coal- or oil-burning power plants, residential heating systems, and automobiles
  • Air pollution can lead to various chronic diseases in humans like asthma, bronchitis, lung cancer, heart diseases and many more
  • The deteriorated quality of air affects other life forms: migration of animals occurs because of increase in global warming, melting of polar ice caps and glaciers, plant growth affected, etc
