yes, people used to talk of population growth in alarmed tone because over population cause many bad problems and also Thomas Malthus believed that the human population exhibits exponential growth, which is when the increase is proportional to the amount already present. Because if population increases, availability of infrastructural facilities will become less. So they often talk of population growth in alarmed tones.
