Explanation:

There is an uneven distribution of population over the land because of many factors.

Geographical Factors:-

Topography: Suitable land- places near rivers are the most densely populated regions of the world because they are suitable for farming purposes which attracts the people the most. Hence, more people prefer to live in river valleys and plains rather than the deserts had mountanious regions. Ganga and Brahamputra plains in India, Hwang-He and Jiang-Chang in China and Nile in Egypt are more inhabitable due to their hospitable conditions.

Soil: Fertile soil is suitable for agriculture, manufacturing houses, establishing industries and factories. Therefore, regions with more fertile soil are densely populated. A good example can be of the Ganga river valley in India which is the most densely populated river valley of the world.

Water: Fresh Water is in great demand nowadays. Therefore, regions with a good supply of fresh water to the people are usually densely populated.

Climate: People prefer to live in place with moderate climate rather than regions with extreme hot and cold climate like that of the deserts of Sahara and polar regions of Antarctica, Russia and North America. Therefore, climate can be regarded as one of the main factors.

Minerals: Areas with rich mineral deposits are densely populated because people think that thee is better infrastructure and more employment facilities in these areas. Kimberley and Johannesberg in South Africa are famous for their golda be diamond deposits and Australia for its platinum.

Social,Economic and Cultural Factors:-

Social: Areas of better housing, education and health facilities are more densely populated e.g., Pune and Bangalore.

Cultural: Places with rich religion or cultural significance attract people. Varanasi, Jerusalem, Vatican City and Mathura are some good examples.

Economic: Industrial areas provide employment opportunities. Large number of people are attracted to these areas. Osaka in Japan and Mumbai in India are two densely populated areas of the world in this case.

Hope it helps you.
